Introduction:

Welcome to day 45 of Bless the Nation – 50 days of prayer. We are in the final week were the focus is on the family. Today, evangelist Stephen Lungu, CEO of African Enterprise, shares a passionate plea for prayer for the marriages in our nation. Coming from a dysfunctional family, being abandoned by his mother and father as a child, abused and rejected, he understands the importance of a healthy family and is passionate about the restoration of broken, dysfunctional marriages and families.

Devotional by Evangelist Stephen Lungu

Good morning South Africa. My name is Evangelist Stephen Lungu serving our Lord Jesus under African Enterprise. As a person, who grew up from a broken family, and experienced rejection from the early stage of my life, lived under bridges and ate from garbage bins, my cry is for the broken and dysfunctional homes in South Africa. Yes, after travelling around Africa extensively, I have found out that a broken and dysfunctional home produces a broken society, nation and community. Again, a broken and dysfunctional home produces broken children who, later, some of them become gang members in society. Hence, my passion and prayer is for the marriages in South Africa.

A deep cry in Psalm 13: 1-2 seems like a hopeless situation. For king David, it seemed like God was silent and far away. Listen to his cry:

  1. How long, O Lord?
  2. Will You forget me (us) forever?
  3. How long will You hide Your face from me (us)?
  4. How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart?

daily?

  1. How long will my (our) enemy be exalted over me (us)?

Vs 3. Consider and hear me (us) O Lord my (our) God.

We as believers in Christ Jesus we will stand in the gap for every family in South Africa for God to bring the spirit of forgiveness, understanding and refreshed love. Yes, like in Isaiah 62:1; “For Zion’s (Families) sake, I will not rest, UNTIL her righteousness goes forth as brightness, and her salvation as a lamp that burns” . Oh God save all the marriages and children of South Africa! God have mercy upon our marriages. In Jesus name. Amen.

Daily Prayer Guide:

Mothers are the glue that keeps families together. Motherhood in our nation has become a challenge. So many mothers have to work away from home and leave their children with caretakers or with grandmothers.

In the name of Jesus Christ, we bless the mothers in our nation with the ability to protect and nourish their families, to love and support their husbands and to raise their children in the fear of the Lord. We bless the grandmothers in our nation who selflessly care for grandchildren. We pray for single-mothers. We pray that South Africa will find a solution to stop teenage-pregnancies and the burdens that come on families because of unwanted or neglected babies. We pray for the protection of women and girls in our nation against rape and incest. We rebuke and resist the spiritual forces of lust, sensuality and hedonism that are keeping many people in our nation in bondage. We pray for women in our nation to pursue godliness, holiness and purity in all their relationships.

PRAYER-WALK: Pray and bless mothers and grandmothers around you. Pray that they will be strengthened in the task of bearing and raising children. Pray for pregnant mothers among your friends and family. If you are a mother or grandmother, pray today and bless the children that God has entrusted to your care. Pray this blessing of Jesus from Mat 5:2-12 over them: “I bless you to know how dependent you are on God, for to you belong the kingdom of heaven. I bless you if your mourn, for you shall be comforted. I bless you with meekness, for then you shall inherit the earth. I bless you to hunger and thirst for righteousness, for you shall be filled. I bless you to be merciful, for you shall obtain mercy. I bless you to have a pure heart, for then you shall see God. I bless you if you are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for yours shall be the kingdom of heaven. I bless you when people revile you and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for the sake of Jesus Christ. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”
