Introduction:

Welcome to Day 44 of the ‘Bless the Nation 50 Days of Prayer.’ As we continue during this week of the 50 Days of Prayer with our focus on ‘Family’, we are privileged to have someone who has combined their passion for family and for media with ‘issues of the day’ journalism in order to ‘Defend Faith, Family and Freedom.” Errol Naidoo is the founder and CEO of Family Policy Institute organisation, and produces the TV programs ‘Watchman on the Wall’ and ‘Salt and Light’ on Faith Network and TBN respectively. In today’s devotional Errol makes a passionate plea for us to get involved in personal and corporate prayer by giving us guidelines of not only why we should do it, but also the how and what to pray for.

Devotional by Errol Naidoo

Hello, my name is Errol Naidoo I am the founder CEO of Family Policy institute based in Cape Town. I want to pray a blessing over the people of South Africa and I am so privileged to be part of the ‘Bless the Nation’ initiative. I feel that it’s necessary and urgent for us as the people in South Africa to pray personally and to pray corporately. I am very encouraged that there are many pray initiatives around the country, but why do we pray? The reason we pray is because Jesus commanded us to pray. Prayer is the slender nerve that moves the hand of omnipotence. God does nothing but in answer to prayer. Jesus said in John 16:33 “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” That means Jesus overcame the world it means that we can as well because we are in Christ and Christ is in us. So I want to pray a blessing over the people of South Africa. I am going to speak blessing, peace, prosperity, health and healing. I pray Lord God that You would bless every single person in South Africa with peace, with health, with prosperity. I pray God that the tribulations and the conflict that we are currently facing in South Africa will be overcome by the power of Jesus Christ according to the word of God. How do we pray? We pray according to God’s word. We pray God’s word back to Him and when we pray we remind God of His word because the Bible tells us that God watching over His word to perform it. So Lord we thank and praise you God for South Africa. We thank you Lord that You are the ruler of the nations and we make You ruler of South Africa. We commit South Africa under your authority, under Your ruler ship and Lord we pray that You would pour out Your spirit, Your peace, Your righteousness and Your goodness in the nation of South Africa. So I encourage you to pray, every single person. Pray for Your personal selves, your marriage and for your family. Family is so important. We see the consequence of family breakdown in South Africa. It is devastating to every single person; it affects every single person in the nation. So we need to pray for families, for restoration of families, for reconciliation between wives and husbands for God to heal families so that when we have strong stable families we have strong stable societies. So Lord we pray for the families in South Africa, we pray for every marriage. Lord where the devil is attacking God we just pray that You would protect men and women in the marriages, that You would strengthen their marriages and Lord that You would give them the blue print for their marriages. We pray for every family God, where there is conflict, disunity God we pray we pray for unity, we pray for healing, strengthening and Lord we pray that every family will be blessed by God. That every family will be the building block of society and that our society will thrive and prosper as a result of the blessing of the family. So Father we pray for every single person in South Africa. We pray for every marriage, we pray for every family God, we bless the nation of South Africa, with peace, with health, with prosperity. God we pray that You would uproot every wicked thing, every evil thing that You would expose it and God that You would transform this nation so that Jesus Christ is exalted over the nation of South Africa in Jesus name. God bless you.

Daily Prayer Guide:

Jesus Christ revealed God to us that God is our Father and He instructed us to pray, saying: “Our Father who is in heaven…”

In the name of Jesus Christ, we bless every father and grandfather in South Africa. May the fatherlessness in our nation be healed and may God reveal Himself to all the fathers in our nation as their heavenly Father. May they receive the ability to care and provide for their families and to love and cherish their wives and children. May they take up the responsibility to raise their children in the fear of the Lord. May the fathers in our nation be honourable and trustworthy heads of their families and the priests of their homes. We pray that every abusive relationship will be stopped. We resist and rebuke the spirit of lust that has gained control over many men in our nation because of immoral sexual behaviour. We cry out for deliverance from rape and incest that have become prevalent in our families. Lord, please hear our prayer and have mercy on us! We pray that those who were neglected because of absent fathers will receive healing and for spiritual fathers to be raised in our nation, to pronounce fatherly blessings over children and to walk with them through godly advise and counsel.

PRAYER-WALK: Let us pray today for the fathers around us. Bless them to be instruments in the hand of God, to father our nation. If you are a father or grandfather, will you not today pray for and bless children around you, especially those who do not have a father? Pray this priestly blessing over them: “The LORD bless you and keep you; The LORD make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.” Num.6: 24-26, (NKJV)
