Introduction:

Welcome to Day 36 of the ‘Bless the Nation 50 Days of Prayer.’ Today marks the start of the 6th week of the 50 Days of Prayer where the focus now shifts to ‘Arts, Culture and Entertainment.’ Daniel Brink, who is one of the leaders of the Jericho Walls International Prayer Network, travels the length and breadth of South Africa mobilising the Body of Christ to rise up in prayer and intercession. Daniel launches this new week and uses the example of Moses to remind us that every gift we have is from God for the purpose of glorifying Him through that gift, and then leads us in prayer for this influential area of the ‘arts.’

Devotional by Daniël Brink

My name is Daniël, from Cape Town, South Africa, and I would like to invite you to pray with me for the nation of South Africa for these 50 days from Resurrection Sunday up to 4th June on Pentecost.

Today and in this week we focus on the domain of art, culture and entertainment and we see in scripture that these domains were actually created to glorify God and to reveal His beauty and gloriousness. So today I want to reflect on Moses. Moses was a man after God’s heart, but he was also an artist. He was a singer, he was a songwriter. He actually wrote some of the oldest songs in the Bible, called the Song of Moses. He was also a nation leader, he was leading a nation in the works of the Lord and then he was an architect. He got the whole plan for the tabernacle of Moses straight from the heart of God. And so we see that the life of Moses was filled with this artistic gift of giving glory to God. Moses was also a man very intimately in love with God. It says about Moses that he was meeting face to face with God like a man with his friend. Moses was also a deeply humble man, really putting his nation before his own interest.

So let us come before the Lord. Let us ask that the Lord will grant us this heart for our nation and the people involved in arts, whether you are a singer or a musician or an artist of some kind.

Let us pray for each and every one of the artists across cultural barriers right through South Africa and we ask that You will give us a humble heart. A heart that will serve the nation with our gifts, a heart that will serve the nation with our skills, a heart that will glorify You. We pray for leaders to rise up in this domain and that You will bless them with a sense of servant hood. That You will bless them with a servant heart for our people and that they will find inspiration from your throne room, inspiration that will give glory to God through their skills and through their gifts.

And we give glory to You right now. In Jesus name

Daily Prayer Guide:

In the name of Jesus Christ, we bless South Africa’s diverse cultures. May we all receive forgiveness for allowing our cultural backgrounds to blind us and hinder us from walking in the truth of God’s Word. May all cultures in South Africa be purified and redeemed, so that we may honour our Lord Jesus Christ from all cultural backgrounds. May we all from different heritages, receive an inheritance in Jesus Christ.

PRAYER-WALK/DRIVE: Museums, cultural buildings and monuments. Pray that people from all cultural backgrounds will realise that God the Father wants us to be reconciled to Him through His Son, Jesus Christ.

May the Lord God command His blessing upon you and may you dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Amen
