Introduction:

Welcome to Day 27 of the ‘Bless the Nation 50 Days of Prayer.’ As the Founder and CEO of Turn2God Ministries, Elza Meyer has had a powerful impact across our nation affecting families, the marketplace, churches and community service. In today’s devotional, Elza makes an earnest appeal for all of us to join current prayer revival breaking out across Africa, but warns that in the face of backlash from the enemy we need to respond with love and forgiveness.

Devotional by Elza Meyer:

How wonderful to partake in the 50 days of prayer. 50 days that can change the cause of a nation, because when we pray God acts and wehn He moves His hand over our nation, nothing is impossible. Therefor, I urge you to pray with us during these 50 days.

This past month was wonderful. 2 Major prayer events took place. The one in Egypt and the other in South Africa. In Egypt, Cairo, at the Kasr El Dobara Evangelical Church more than 10 000 people gathered. They prayed that God would reveal Himself in the Midde East and that He would show His face to those who can not see Him or hear Him, or have bibles and that thousands of people would turn to God and that He will protect the christians.

On 22 nd of April, here in Bloemfontein, something extraordinary happened. More than a million people gathered and what a wonderful day it was, as God’s presence folded over all of us and we cut covenant with Him. He changed the course of SA history and the people in this nation not only saw wat God did on that day but will see in the days to come how wonderful the miracles He will work will change us and the way in which we go. And therefor, beloved, we must know that in these days, when a nation gathers to pray we gain territory for God’s kingdom, and because of that, the evil one gets angry and even frightened.

On palm Sunday, a week after the prayer meeting in EGYPT ended, 2 bomb attacks ripped the church in Egypt, one in Tanta and one in Alexandria and many died. The evil one wanted to evoke bitterness, anger, hatred and unforgiveness in the church in Egypt. But you know what happened? He could not expect what the church would do. The church decided that they are going to act on scripture and on Jesus’ words and not do what he wants them to do. And you know they forgave them there tresspasses. One of the bishops wrote, he said “The bombs expressed what the radicals believe. By doing so they granted us the opportunity to forgive and we could express what we believe.”

And the result, a revival broke out in Egypt. He went on to say: We have been praying for revival for 30 years. We were waiting for a time such as this. It was an answer to our prayers for revival. People are now running to the Lord.”

These two bomb attacks caused the people of Egypt to run to Jesus. How amazing!

Now we understand why Coligney happened. The evil one did not like what happened on the 22nd of April. He saw how the christians in Bloemfontein gain territory under God’s Lordship.

He got frightened, and he decided to do something that will rip this nation once again. Beloved, lets not act or react with unforgiveness, bitterness and hatred. Lets act on scripture, forgive and walk in God’s principal. And I urge you, as the people who are currently praying for South Africa and its people, make sure that your heart is free of all pain, hurt, hatred, unforgiveness and bitterness. And even let your fear go, so that only Holy Spirit is able to direct your prayers. And then we are able to ask of God to release upon South Africa His plan for us. And I want you to pray with me today Lev 26:9-13. I am giving you the following prayer pointers

Pray with me that:

  1. God will look on us with favour.
  2. That He will make us fruitful and increase our numbers.
  3. That He will keep His covenant with us.
  4.    That we will still be eating last year’s harvest when the new harvest comes in.
  5. That we will have to move out the previous harvest to make room for the new harvest.
  6. That God will dwell amongst us.
  7. That He will never abhor nor forsake us.
  8. That He will walk amongst us.
  9. That He will be our God and that we will be His people.

10 That God will break the yoke of slavery upon our nation.

  1. That He will enable us to walk in the light of His Presence!

Daily Prayer Guide:

In the Name of Jesus Christ, we bless all medical practitioners (doctors, nurses, care-givers, ambulance services, etc.) and pharmacists. We pray for affordable medical aid for all citizens in our nation. We bless the department of Health. We ask forgiveness for legalising the practice of abortion. We pray for all those who perform abortions, mothers who choose to undergo abortions, and for politicians who approve of this practise. We pray for awakening of their consciences, for conviction of the sin of murder. We pray for healing of the emotional, physical and psychological impact of abortion on the mothers. We weep for the babies who are torn apart in the womb and whose lives are not worth anything. Father, forgive us! Have mercy on us! Help us to turn back to You, to value every life that You create in the womb – “For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvellous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.” (Psalm.139:13-14).

PRAYER-WALK or DRIVE: Abortion clinics.

INTERCEDE FOR the sick, para- and quadriplegic, for the blind and deaf, for anyone who suffers from physical, emotional or psychological illnesses. Pray that the gift of healing will be restored to the Body of Christ and that Christians will take up their responsibility to pray for each other according to Matthew 10:8 and James 5:14-15.

Thank you for joining us today in prayer. Grace and peace to you! Have a wonderful and blessed day. Or as we would say it in Afrikaans here in the Karoo …..
