Introduction:

Welcome to day #20, week 3, of Bless the nation 50 days of prayer. Today we are blessed to have Janet Brann Hollis share a powerful word with us. Janet and her husband have a prophetic ministry called, Ruach Ministries, but she also represents SAbacktoGOD, where she is mobilising the body of Christ to get back to God and create an awareness about prayer for the nation. In her devotional message she uses the example of Cornelius in Acts 10 to motivate us to build an altar of prayer in our homes and our daily lives.

Devotional by Janet Brann-Hollis:

It is a privilege for myself Janet Brann Hollis to be able to share with you the passage that God has laid on my heart for today.  I share with you from Acts Ch. 10:1-4 on the account of Cornelius.  There are some very significant points that we must take not of in this passage.

  1. Cornelius was a devout man
  2. Cornelius prayed together with his household
  3. Cornelius’s prayers stirred the spirit realm, in that he received a visitation from an Angel
  4. Cornelius prayers went up as a memorial before God.

You may not feel like participating in the 50-day prayer initiative, but God is encouraging you to start by building an Altar of prayer in your place and sphere of influence.

Cornelius built an altar in his home by gathering his family together.  He was a man who walked in the fear of God, and thereby got God’s attention.  God is encouraging you to build an altar and gather people together and pray at a certain place.

As you walk and pray, you can build an altar on the pavement where are.  If you are a teacher, you can build an alter in your classroom, and you will begin to see the learning difficulties of your children diminish, if you are a doctor, you can build an altar in your surgery, God’s healing will be released.  If you are a politician you can build an altar of prayer in your office, and the wisdom and grace of God will be released to you.  We need to build altars in our cities, outside places of iniquity.  As we do this, the presence of God will be released and the Kingdom of God released and sin will be no more.

Can you imagine if two-three million people in SA would gather together in prayer, building an altar in their various spheres of influence, the fragrance that would be released before the throne of God….  It was this altar of prayer that caused God’s attention to be moved toward Cornelius and a memorial of remembrance was built, the atmosphere changed as Cornelius was stirred to pray.

Join with me in prayer as we bless South Africa.  We declare the blessing of God over SA, the Baruch of God. We declare that our politicians are blessed; we declare that our economy is blessed; we declare that the media is blessed; we declare that the church is arising and hearing the call to prayer, for God to move in our nation.

Declare these scriptures over SA – Deuteronomy 28:1-15

Daily Prayer Guide:

Remember to bless South Africa according to Num.6:24-26, Matt.5:2-12 and Eph.1:3-4.

In the Name of Jesus Christ, we bless South Africa’s LAND. We pray for wisdom to manage the land and to remove the historic injustices and other land issues that still plague South Africa. We confess our guilt and pray that the land will be purified from all defilement caused by immorality (Lev.18), idolatry, spiritism, sorcery and reverence of dead ancestors (Lev.19:31; Isa.8:19), bloodshed, killing, stealing, lying, adultery and swearing (Deut.21:1-9; Hos.4:1-3) and broken covenants / agreements and divorce (Isa.24:5; 2Sam.21:1; Mal.2:16). We pray for God’s favour and blessing to rest on our land.

We bless the departments of Environmental Affairs, Human settlements, Rural Development and Land Reform, Water and Sanitation.

PRAYER-WALK/DRIVE: Find a place in your backyard or a park near you, lay your hands on the soil of South Africa and bless it in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
