Introduction:

Welcome to Day 33 of the ‘Bless the Nation 50 Days of Prayer.’ As we continue this week with the focus on Media and Sport, it is exciting to get a devotional fresh out of France, where Springbok rugby player, Pierre Spies, makes an impassioned plea to all South African Christians to rise up at this time, stand in unity as believers, and get serious about praying the Word, praying for our leaders, the salvation of the lost and our marriages. Pierre, who played 53 tests for the Springboks, won 3 Super Rugby titles playing for the Bulls and now plays for Montpellier in France, is clearly not ashamed of the Gospel and has openly shared his faith in Christ in schools, churches and events all around the world.

Devotional by Pierre Spies

I greet you all in the most powerful name of Jesus Christ.

The current situation in South Africa has woken up the believers of Christ – the Holy Spirit has prompted God’s people to stand up against the moral & spiritual corruption & sin in South Africa that has brought it to its knees.

For God to move, his people must pray, and pray earnestly.

If we don’t pray, we are not preparing the spiritual ground/atmosphere – and then God can do very little. But when God’s people pray with a level of expectation- filled with faith & in unity – MIRACLES HAPPEN.

“May those curses become the Lord’s punishment for my accusers who speak evil of me. But deal well with me, O Sovereign Lord, for the sake of your own reputation! Rescue me because you are so faithful and good.”

Psalms 109:20-21 NLT

The Bible says that the curse will return to the one who sent it, but God deals with us then FOR HIS OWN REPUTATION.

The time for playing with God is finished for us as a christian believers – men & women of SA, it’s time to take God serious. It’s time to pray for our government, schools, leaders, churches & families more than ever before.

We can’t be dormant anymore – being idle & sleeping in faith – the enemy loves that. The Bible also says that no weapon formed against us shall prosper as this is our INHERITANCE, but we have to take it by faith & stand on God’s word, and take ACTION. (Isa 54:17)

My dear friend, stop running away, stop making excuses & stop attacking your christian brother/sister & rather start attacking the enemy in prayer and with God’s word.

Our God is a healer, a restorer , a rewarder of those who seek him – it’s time to pray friends.

Let’s lift up the name of JESUS over every situation- FOR GOD’S REPUTATION!

Practical application:

Declare the word over what you pray.

Pray for our spiritual leaders. (Romans 15:30-32)

Pray for the salvation of the lost. James 5:16

Pray for marriages (Eccle 4:9-10) & pray for God’s people to be filled with faith!( Deut 31:6)

PRAYER:

Father, we thank you for your precious grace, your love & your faithful word.

Lord we ask that you forgive us all of our sins, our idleness, our lack of faith, and we ask that you will fill us again with a spirit of faith!

We thank you that you will strike everyone who curse us, that every curse, lie and form of deception is destroyed in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and that the favor of You Lord will fall upon SA! We take back everything the enemy tried to steal in Jesus name!

We pray that you deal with us Lord, FOR YOUR REPUTATION- for nothing else! We pray that you raise up people of faith, people of character in all positions of influence!

You will have your way in South Africa – in JESUS NAME – AMEN!

Daily Prayer Guide:

We bless our sportsmen and women to be responsible role models for our youth, to excel in their sport and to be worthy ambassadors for South Africa. We bless the Department of Sport and Recreation. Lord God, please bless South Africa with a new heart!

Pray these 3 blessings over all our NATIONAL SPORT TEAMS: In the name of Jesus Christ we bless the people of South Africa and every worker in our nation: The LORD bless you and keep you; The LORD make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.” Num.6:24-26, (NKJV).

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for yours is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for you shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for you shall inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for you shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for you shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for you shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for you shall be called sons of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for yours is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” Mat.5:2-12, (NKJV)

Blessed are You, our God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ…that we should be holy and without blame before You in love” Eph.1:3-4, (NKJV)
