Introduction:

Welcome to Day 5 of the ‘Bless the Nation 50 Days of Prayer.’ As we continue focusing on the Church and other religions, Pastor Nevil Norden, Founder of the Lewende Woord group of churches, encourages us as South African Christians at this critical time in our history to rise up in our prophetic destiny to be the Rainbow Nation that demonstrates unity in Christ to the rest of the world.

Devotional by Pastor Nevil Norden:

South Africa is facing one of the most challenging times in our history, and I believe the continuous heartfelt earnest prayer of the righteous availeth much. That means it accomplishes much. It’s powerful in it’s working, James 5:16 says. Now Paul writing to the church in Colossians 4:2 says, “Be earnest and unwearied and steadfast in your prayer life, being both alert and intent in your praying with thanksgiving.” So he says don’t get tired of praying, don’t get to a place where you are saying, “It’s not working.” He means we must be alert to what the Holy Spirit is leading you to pray. Sometimes there is an urgency that comes over us, and I want to read a portion out of the Book of Acts 4:29, “And now, Lord, observe their threats and grant to Your bond servants [full freedom] to declare Your message fearlessly,” We have to become fearless in terms of, “I believe there is a heaven and a hell.” If we become fearless we won’t make a compromise. Continuing in v30 it says, “While You stretch out Your hand to cure and to perform signs and wonders through the authority and by the power of the name of Your holy Child and Servant Jesus. And when they had prayed, the place in which they were assembled was shaken;” I believe something is going to happen in South Africa. As we begin to pray, the 22nd of April as people gather in Bloemfontein, and as we continue to pray through May and the run of this year. I believe with all my heart that South Africa is a prophetic nation, and in his role, as it were, as ‘High Priest’ in the country, Bishop Tutu made a declaration that this is a ‘Rainbow Nation’, and I believe that a rainbow nation has a story of God’s grace to the world, that yellow, brown, black and white can declare that we have a common denominator, the blood of Jesus.

Let’s pray together. Father, I pray that as we are united in prayer something will move in the spiritual realm. We declare that Father, in the precious name of Jesus. And now Lord, if you are listening, I want you to put your hand on your head, and Father we bless ourselves according to Isaiah 65:16 by the God of truth. As we bless ourselves, we bless ourselves in this country as part of the answer and not part of the problem, in Jesus name, Amen!
